What is NLP?

"NLP — FANTASTIC! ... I wish I'd discovered it years before I did."

A selection of books on NLP

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is essentially about modelling human excellence and applying those models. From this modelling it has developed into a remarkable set of skills, ideas and models for greater success — through better communication, change and personal resourcefulness.

Communication

NLP develops your communications skills by applying models of how great, influential communicators do things. You'll learn how to build excellent rapport and use language with skill and precision.

Change

NLP explores ways of getting change into our neurology, for better feelings and more supportive behaviours. This includes modelling, explorative and transformational 'talk' coaching, powerful mind and body exercises that leave deep and lasting impressions and the use of hypnosis and self-hypnosis.

Personal Resourcefulness

NLP helps you develop your confidence, creativity, etc, and can help you build good strategies for things like making good decisions. It also helps you coach other to do the same. That's because NLP models how naturally resourceful people build and maintain their states of resourcefulness.

History and background

NLP started in the early 1970s with the modelling work of Richard Bandler and John Grinder and has been continuously developed ever since. It is very popular with people who professionally help others as well as business people and private individuals who want to communicate and act more effectively.

Skills from NLP have have become very popular in recent years and have permeated into business training, coaching, self-help and therapeutic work.
